Has it been a few years since you have worked on an etching and are in need of a little brushing up on how to prepare a plate for drawing, or how to approach using the acid bath?

Or, are you savvy with the basics of etching, but want to take your aquatint skills to the next level in order to etch rich, dark, true black tones in both traditional and non-traditional methods?

Learn all of these skills in this two day workshop led by artist Jon Barcan. All materials included!

Just show up, and come ready to make some art!

This workshop will cover:

  • Copper Plate Preparation
  • Drypoint
  • Line Etching
  • Transferring your image to your plate
  • Making a test plate
  • Etching with Ferric Chloride
  • and finally, Inking/Wiping and Printing your image

In addition, we will learn tips and tricks for Spray Paint Aquatint + Step Biting with Aquatint, and also 2 non-traditional Aquatint methods: Soap Ground and Salt Ground.
